Lake Creek Alaska: Fly Fishing With Mammals
It has been nearly a week now since returning home and I am starting to get back into the daily routine. After speaking with my Dad a few times it is very clear that we all had a great time and cannot wait to go back. I have gone through and emailed pictures and put together a short VIDEO trying to hold onto it as long as I can. It is funny how you can wish for a year to go by so you can do something, go somewhere, fish anywhere again. I often find that is the way it is for me with any destination trip. In Summer I am wishing for Steelhead season, in the Winter I am looking for some warm salt water, in the Spring the Trout arrive and by the time Summer rolls back around the same though process begins.

Got a little off track there…..so back to the last trip. The mouse fishing was off the hook (tempermental) but off the hook. It seemed to vary by the hour of day when it would be good or bad. One day we raised over 6 fish in a half hour on the mouse. Other times hours would go by without a look and you had to switch back to the flesh fly to get your confidence back up. But what a kick in the ass to see a fish come after a mammal

“We Got Bush” my friend Newellsy told me that we had to go to the above mentioned. I arrived in anchorage too late for this action but some of the boys went by and took a pic for me. They said it wasn’t open yet….but who knows.

Man the fish were good looking so many spots

look at all those spots..damn

Cousin Tom with some moldy chum that hammered a big flesh fly. There were pods of salmon here and there, chums and silvers mostly, so ocasionally we would piss a few off with some big ugly leech looking thing. Suprisingly enough some of them charged after it.

This was as close to a sunny day we saw. Things were pretty soggy by the end of the week.

This sums up how each of our days ended. A few beers on the boat ride home.
