Salmon River New York: Hot Chrome On The Bank
by joey on Nov.09, 2008, under Fly Fishing
Just returned from a little East Coast Steelhead trip to NY. The fish were hot almost too hot. There were times when we would call unnecessary roughness on the fish. The first day was a tough one with water levels being in the trees so any fish that was hooked was instanly on its was back to the lake and deep into your backing. The levels came down and the fishing was great for the rest of the trip. Day 2 there were over 30 white lightning hooked by our group.

Alex from Patagonia Flies stayed the extra couple weeks so he could get his Steelhead on the bank.

Boz gets one at the buzzer….bright chrome.

He found a Giant German tooooo…not a bad by-catch when your fishing for steelies.

Absolute Giant Hen that made Jeremy from flies and fins very very happy.

Happy to get this bomber to the bank.

Here’s another look at my fish of the trip. Stay tunned for more on the great lakes trip. Jeremy is putting together a vid that should be off the wall. We put together a snappy and catch tune that I think you’ll like.

In the smoke filled room at fox hollow breaking it down…..”taking it deep into the backing.”

No kidding that was totally different thatn any other of the steel mining trips you and I have been on….usually it is strictly business .This time it was way more relaxed and a lot of hanging out enjoying the company. It was good to see you and meet the others that I have only met in the cyber world. More to come….

amos – if you do come (which you better, someday! now that you’re deadly with the nymphs), bring a tamborine or a fruit shaker or something, whatever .. add a little percussion to the late night jam sessions …
