Yammaramma: Black Midge Emerger

So I headed up to the Yampa River, this time I brought my bike instead of walking. Great move on the way in. The way out it was a muddy mess and it took me 2x as long. Better than walking….anyway. I was the second one there and of course the first fisherman got shell shocked by all the fish in the first pool and couldn’t move. Fine with me. I had a score to setlle down on the lower section. I finally figured out what they were eating and had the best day EVER on the Yampa. Enjoy.
I was real suprised when I saw this fella come out of the water. I was casting to a huge rainbow and this guy came out of the depths and crushed my black midge emerger. Really happy with this one.
I am happy with this one too. I had a score to settle and now were even.
I love watching them swim away. Great day on the river, I only wish I had someone there to witness some of these spectacular fish.

sweet fish….that brown is sick! “had the best day on the yampa,” wow! i never knew the west (colorado) could be so fruitful in the winter! looking forward to seeing more….

Nice fish dude. One of the most effective black midges for the Yampa is the Paul Zimmerman Flouro Fiber Midge. Try it and the fish will be alot bigger next time that you visit the “Yamper”

Gotta love that little gem of a river!!! Did you get all the mud out of your truck from riding the bike yet? Next time you say Yampa, I’m going. Screw work!!!
