Yampa River: Crowded Fishing

by joey on Jun.21, 2008, under Fly Fishing

Hit the Yampa Below Stagecoach Res the other day and had some luck. No paticular fly was woking better than the other, we just threw the entire box at them. With the all the other rivers here being very high the tail waters have been seeing alot of pressure so finding someone in your favorite hole is not uncommon. Luckily for me I found my frind Joel in my favorit spot with a client. They left after an hour or so to go get lucnh and gave Reid and I the ok to head down.

Reid found this one near a log jam and fed him a Black Micro May.

Barrs Emerger did it for me.
Overall a good day lost a few good sized fish and were able to hide from the crowd.

yo — i was reading the captions every picture and i when i read this “Reid found this one near a log jam and fed him a Black Micro May.” I thought it you were talking about the dog on the rock .. i thought to myself, “whoever reid is .. he’s a freakin’ wild man .. .. that’s a good size lab he was able to trick and pull out of a log jam with a micro may fly and a 5 wt. fly rod” …..
